The physical benefits of yin yoga are extensive but there is so much more going on inside beyond the physical. Here is a great article that explains why the silent aspect of the practice is beneficial -

Silence yoga is best for release the tension and many expert are giving the education of Yoga. It is benefit for body and give the peace of mind. I think it is best for life work.

I am an introvert and I always prefer silence over noise. I also have social anxiety so I tend to get awkward when interacting with a person. I cannot initiate a conversation. One time, I tried enrolling in a yoga session, but my anxiety came and taken over me. With that, I cancelled my class and stayed at home instead. It is a good thing that I was introduced to yin yoga. I appreciate more the value of silence, thanks to this type of yoga. It gave me peace and presence of mind.
